Templates: send recurring agreements in seconds

ShockSign ships with more than 95 system templates organized by category: real estate (residential and commercial leases, purchase agreements, rental applications, sublease and lease-termination agreements), legal (mutual and one-way NDAs, power of attorney, liability waivers, settlement agreements), HR (employment and independent-contractor agreements, offer letters, non-competes, handbook acknowledgments) and general business paperwork.

Any document you upload can be saved as a custom template with its signature, initial, date and text fields already placed. The next time you need it, pick the template, add recipients and send — no repositioning fields. Templates can be shared with team members so everyone sends the same approved version.

Audit trail and certificate of completion

Every action on a document is written to a tamper-evident audit log: who viewed it, from which IP address and device, when each field was completed, when the signer clicked to sign, and when the document was completed, declined or voided. Signer intent is captured through an explicit click-to-sign action, which is what the ESIGN Act, UETA and eIDAS require.

Completed documents are sealed with an RFC 3161 trusted timestamp from an independent time-stamping authority and a PAdES digital signature, so anyone can verify later that the PDF has not been altered. A certificate of completion summarizing the full audit trail is attached to every finished document and can be verified from the public verification page.

In-person signing

When the signer is standing in front of you — at a front desk, a closing table, a gym or an event — start an in-person signing session from the document. Hand over your tablet or laptop, the signer confirms their identity by entering the email address on file, draws their signature on screen and the document moves to the next signer or completes.

The session is tied to the document’s audit trail exactly like a remote signature, so in-person signatures carry the same legal weight and the same certificate of completion. In-person signing is included on the Business plan.

Bulk send

Send the same document to many recipients at once — a waiver to every member, a policy acknowledgment to every employee, an updated agreement to every client. Upload the PDF once, then add recipients one by one or paste a name/email list straight from a spreadsheet. ShockSign creates an individual copy for each recipient with its own signing link, audit trail and status.

Results are reported per recipient so you can see immediately which sends succeeded and which addresses need attention. Bulk send is available on the Business plan.

REST API and webhooks

Everything you can do in the dashboard you can do over the API: upload documents, create and send from templates, add signers and fields, generate embedded signing sessions, download completed PDFs and audit trails. Authenticate with an API key in the X-API-Key header or with OAuth 2.0 for partner integrations.

Subscribe to webhooks for document.created, document.sent, document.viewed, document.signed, document.completed and document.declined and ShockSign will POST the event to your HTTPS endpoint in real time. The API is included from the $12/mo Starter plan; webhooks, the form builder and embedded signing are part of Professional at $29/mo.

Embedded signature forms and web forms

Build a web form with the drag-and-drop form builder — text, email, phone, name, date, text-area, checkbox, dropdown and signature fields — attach it to a document template, and paste a single embed code into your website, landing page, client portal or app. Visitors fill in the form and sign without leaving your site, and the completed document lands in your ShockSign dashboard with a full audit trail.

Forms are white-labeled with your colors and logo, mobile responsive, and auto-save progress so a signer can start on a phone and finish on a desktop. Public signing links work the same way for documents you want to share by URL rather than embed.

Outlook add-in

The ShockSign add-in for Microsoft Outlook lets you send an attachment for signature from the message you are already writing. Click ShockSign in the ribbon, and the add-in detects signers from the email recipients, lets you review the signing order and sends the document without switching apps. Signing status and completion notifications come back to your inbox.

It works in Outlook for Windows, Mac, the web and mobile, and can be installed by an individual from the manifest or deployed organization-wide by an IT admin.

AI contract analysis

Contract Intelligence™ reads any uploaded contract and returns a plain-English summary, detects the document type (NDA, lease, employment agreement and so on), extracts the parties, dates, duration and financial terms, and flags risky clauses — non-competes, auto-renewals, indemnification, limitation of liability — with a low, medium or high severity rating and an explanation of why it matters.

Signers can run the same analysis before they sign so they understand what they are agreeing to. You can try it without an account on the free contract analyzer, and ShockSign also exposes an MCP-compatible API so AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Claude can create, send and analyze contracts on your behalf.
